hey there guy, your tractor looks awesome, but i really enjoy the finished circus .... caboose.. thing... its really awesome. the design and texture are beautiful!
Lovin' it, man, you're really getting amazing at this. I wonder how you did the dirty windshield effect on the tractor, put a texture on a glass material? Rock on!
Its a blinn material with the reflectivity and the specularity turned down. Then, I made a 512 x 512 map that had 3 sections to it:
-colour (I took a picture of a dirty windshield) -Transparency (grayscale) -Diffuse (grayscale)
The colour map gave me that nice dirtiness
The transparency map gave me the ability to create the impression that the glass is faintly see through and let me create wiper streaks
The diffuse map tells the object how much light it can receive in certain areas, I used this to tone down the acceptance of light in the windshield corners. It gave it an extra kick of dirtiness and age.
